Tutor.com Selected as New and Noteworthy in App Store

NEW YORK – August 2, 2010 – Tutor.com, the largest online tutoring service, launched a first-of-its-kind education app that’s featured today as “New & Noteworthy” in Apple’s App Store. Tutor.com for iPhone and iPod Touch lets students capture and upload pictures of homework or textbook problems, or snap a picture of something from the board in their classroom. The application saves pictures in a student’s locker at stg-www.tutor.com, so students can use them in an online tutoring session anytime. With the Tutor.com for iPhone application, students can also review previous tutoring sessions or browse our online resource library for lessons, worksheets and websites to get their homework done.

Students returning to school will appreciate having immediate access to the searchable, online homework help resource collection compiled by Tutor.com’s network of math, science, English and social studies tutors. The resources include step-by-step tutorials, practice exams and study guides in just about every subject for K-12th graders. Students can also find SAT prep materials and resources for standardized tests in all 50 states.

In addition to allowing students to upload homework assignments, pictures and essays to their personal Tutor.com Locker, students with Tutor.com subscription accounts can also access their previous tutoring sessions on their iPhone or iPod Touch to help them study for an exam or review a concept or skill they worked on whenever they need a refresher.

“Our first mobile app enhances the tutoring experience we provide by truly bringing the student’s classroom into a one-to-one session with a tutor through the mobile Tutor.com Locker and giving busy students the resources they need on-the-go,” explained George Cigale, founder and CEO of Tutor.com. “This is just our first education app of many that will empower students to get help when they’re stuck and stay on-track for their academic goals.”

Tutor.com plans to release an upgrade this fall that will enable students to connect directly to a subject-qualified tutor for a one-to-one learning session 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, right from their iPhone or iPod Touch.
